This tutorial describes how to log in and getting terminal access to the Lunarc systems using the PuTTY application.
Step 1 - Starting PuTTY
PuTTY is started by selecting Start/All programs/PuTTY/PuTTYfrom the Start-menu.
The main window is then shown. From this window, hostname and settings for different systems can be defined.
Step 2 – Creating a session
Enter the hostname (for example docenten.lunarc.lu.se) of the system in the Host Name text box. Make sure the port is 22 and the protocol set to SSH.
Enter a name for the session in the Saved Sessions text box
Click on the Save button to save the session for later use. The name of the session is diplayed in the list.
Step 3 – Logging in
If the session is not loaded, select the session in the listbox and click Load.
Click on the Open button to login to the selected system.
A terminal window appears asking for a user name and a password
If the username ans password are correct a command prompt will be shown.
