Milleotto

Milleotto is an IBM blade-centre solution with 252 nodes containing two 64-bit, dual core Intel Xeon 5160 (3.0 GHz), corresponding to a total of 1008 processors. The system interconnect is divided into two GigaBit Ethernet networks, one with a central HP switch for parallel processing (MPI communication) and one switched also in the blade centres for storage and other communication. Storage is implemented using 4 storage servers connected to an IBM disk chassi providing in total 7.3 Tb (RAID5) of shared disk distributed as a General Parallel File System (GPFS). The heated air leaving the racks is water-cooled with the help of IBM Rear Door Heat eXchangers.
